General Information about Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Reconstruction and Repair Surgery)
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; congenital or acquired anomalies (deformity), shape and function disorders and the body image is a surgical branch that works to correct the correction. Plastic is a word from the Greek " plasticos " and means "shaping", "fitting a pattern". Reconstructive is a Latin word and means "to do it again".
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; It deals with all kinds of surgical problems on the whole body surface. Events that disrupt the shape and function of the body may be congenital, traumatic or acquired. For example; congenital cleft palate-lip, conjoined finger (syndactyly), vascular masses (such as hemangiomas); traumatic burns, facial injuries due to traffic accidents, bone fractures, various incisions and organ ruptures; various skin and soft tissue tumors, chronic wounds are acquired in this surgical discipline. Losses, deformities, pathological events (tumor, cyst, infection etc.) in bone (especially face-head and hand bones) and cartilage roof (like ear and nasal cartilages) are still in the plastic surgery field. Microsurgery, laser systems, as well as classical surgical methods
Areas of interest in Plastic and Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery:
- Facial disorders? Asymmetries, congenital masses, rare facial clefts
- Cleft lip-palate
- Craniofacial - maxillofacial anomalies (eg, jaw, facial and head bones deformities, irregularities, deficiencies
- Orthognathic surgery (shutdown of the jaw)
- Absence of auricle, bucket ear and other deformities
- Nasal defects, tumors, ruptures
- Salivary gland problems
- Congenital tumor, nevus (me), masses, vascular malformations, hemangiomas
- Bone and soft tissue traumas of the face
- Maxillofacial surgery (Traffic accident, tumor and other causes of bone defects-fractures-shape and function disorders, jaw surgery
- Repair of head and neck tumors and their defects
- Absence of breast, asymmetry or excess breast tissue
- Breast reconstruction after cancer

- Congenital anomalies of genital organs (Epispadias, hypospadias, vaginal agenesis etc.)
- Replication of genital organs, replantation of severed organs,
- Chest and abdominal wall defects

- Aesthetic breast operations: augmentation, reduction and uplift
- Excessive skin-subcutaneous fat reduction (liposuction-lipectomy)
- Abdominoplasty
- Leg contour correction (fat removal, injections or leg implants)
- Contour corrections with implants (prostheses applied to soft tissue) (Hip and thigh implants, male pectoral implants - leg implants)
- Skin care and interventions
Aesthetics (Cosmetic) Surgery: These are the operations performed to provide the patient with a more aesthetic and proportionate body. The relevant body part (nose, breast, abdomen, eyelid, extremities) is more perfect and aligned with the contours of the environment based on anatomical and aesthetic measurements. In this surgery, oil injections and various implants can be used. Operational as well as non-operative procedures are applied in our clinic.
Maxillofacial Surgery: It deals with all types of facial bones surgery. Facial bone fractures, tumors, orthognatic corrections (jaws forward or backward), congenital facial clefts (cleft lip and palate) are in this area.
Craniofacial Surgery: Corrects abnormalities and deformities of skull bones. Skull deformities (tower head, hammerhead, flattened head) after birth are adversely affected by craniofacial surgery because they may adversely affect brain development. Later defects in skull bones can be repaired with various autologous tissue (bone and cartilage from another place) or alloplastic materials.
Microsurgery: It is a surgery performed under operation microscope with special microsurgical instruments. Replantation of broken hands, feet and other tissues can be performed with this surgical technique. Due to the suturing of small vessels and nerves, the function of the broken organ is restored and the transfer of tissues from one region to another is possible (free flaps). Today, fine veins and nerves up to 0.5 mm in diameter can be planted.
Hand Surgery: Correction of traumatic defects (cuts, crushes, ruptures), shape and function disorders, correction of congenital disorders (finger anomalies, adherent and excess fingers, cleft hand, deformed hands, etc.), repair of tendons and nerves, hand tumors, hand burns treatment can be done by hand surgery.
Endoscopic surgery: Face and forehead stretching, breast prosthesis placement, nerve and vascular surgery have become possible with the help of endoscope.
