GENERAL SURGERY CLINIC

As a principal part of a pioneering institution, division of general surgery has been providing health care service and surgical training for medical professionals since 1982 in its current location. According to the protocol signed between İzmir Katip Çelebi University Medical Faculty and Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health on 25th of July 2014, health care service and medical education has been carried out mutually with İzmir Katip Çelebi University Medical Faculty which was established in 2010.
Our facilities include four wards with total 115 beds, 9 outpatient clinic rooms, 5 operating rooms, endoscopy unit, 3 district outpatient clinics affiliated with the hospital and Hatay Campus. In addition to general surgery outpatient clinic, there are also branch outpatient clinics of “Surgical Oncology”, “Breast Diseases”, “Obesity” and “Hepatobiliary System”.
In our department which is a nationwide intense and leading center in terms of endocrine surgery (thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal gland diseases), breast diseases, bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery and hepatobiliary surgery; diagnosis and treatment modalities are achieved in all fields of general surgery by using the modern methods determined by current literature and guidelines. Basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures are also performed in the world standards. Since our hospital is a comprehensive oncology center, all cancers of breast, endocrine organs, gastrointestinal tract and hepatobiliary system are treated with multidisciplinary approach. Weekly multidisciplinary council meetings for gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancers, hepatopancreaticobiliary diseases, endocrine diseases and obesity are held on certain days in order to determine the most appropriate treatment options and beter follow-up for patients. In our endoscopy unit, gastrointestinal diseases are diagnosed with endoscopy and even treated with endoscopic interventions (stomach botox injections, stent placement, electroincision, EMR, ESD) in selected patients.
We received “Institutional Certificate of Residency Training Qualification” from Turkish Surgical Association in 2014.
